What Are Dental Veneers?

Cosmetic veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that are tailor-made and designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. They are outstanding at concealing your teeth’s imperfections like cracks, chips, stains, and discoloration. Veneers are fabricated specifically to match your unique teeth and smile.

What Are the Types of Veneers?

At our office, we provide a full range of veneer materials, each with its own advantages.

Porcelain

Porcelain veneers are thin casings that are custom-made for each tooth. They offer enhanced strength, stability, stain resistance, and a more natural-looking surface. Their application requires minimal tooth enamel removal than a crown, making porcelain veneers one of the more preferred choices among patients.

Composite Resin Veneers

Composite veneers are composed of resin material. They are created in a lab and then secured directly to your teeth with the help of solid adhesives. Composite veneers can better resist fractures and abrasions. However, they are more costly than other materials.

Lumineers

Lumineers are advanced porcelain veneers that require no preparation work or removal of the tooth’s enamel before fixing. Lumineers are as thin as contact lenses and could be bonded directly to a tooth’s surface without needing to shave or grind off any of the enamel. These veneers can even be attached to an existing crown without replacing it.

How Are Veneers Applied?

First, your tooth will be restructured to make room for the veneer. A layer of enamel will be removed and, if necessary, a local anesthetic can be used. Once your tooth is prepared, Dr. Christian Escobar will take an impression to be used for the veneer fabrication. We will make sure that the veneer matches the color of your other existing teeth.

When the veneer is available, we will bond it in place with a unique adhesive of resin cement during the subsequent visit, so it remains fastened to your tooth. A follow-up check will be done to make sure everything is perfect and that you are happy with your new dental veneers.
